Philadelphia distilling was founded in 2005, by Andrew Auwerda, Timothy Yarnall and Robert Cassell. It is the first Craft Distillery in Pennsylvania since prohibition first spirit released by Philadelphia Distilling was Bluecoat, American Dry Gin. Bluecoat has received numerous awards including the coveted "BEST GIN" and "DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL" at the 2009 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and "GOLD MEDAL – BEST IN CLASS" at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.Bluecoat, American Dry Gin has also received critical acclaim and national press coverage in media outlets such as Time Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Oprah Magazine and Forbes. Bluecoat is now available in 21 U.S. states. Philadelphia Distilling has recently released their first small batches of Vieux Carré Absinthe Supérieure. Philadelphia Distilling is the first distillery on the East Coast of the United States to distill authentic absinthe in over 100 years. This hand crafted spirit has already been graced with a "GOLD MEDAL" at the 2009 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, where it was the highest ranked of all absinthes. Featuring the "Holy Trinity" of authentic absinthe botanicals, Grande Wormwood, Fennel & Green Anise, Vieux Carré is delighting connoisseurs worldwide.
