Our Roots
Benchworks was founded in 1991 as a small family business with the intention of bringing a wide range of top-quality marketing services to emerging brands. In 2001, president Thad Bench began to take the company to a national audience. Shortly after, he relocated the business to a unique setting on Maryland's Eastern Shore. He and his executive team, creative staff, and project managers had an inspiring environment in which to produce creative work--a 15,000 square foot barn on Worth's Folly, a circa 1780 farm in Chestertown. This very special place is surrounded by thousands of acres of farmland, abundant wildlife, and one really big Internet pipe. The Farm was an ideal setting for Benchworks to establish its roots as a leader in marketing services and under Thad's leadership, Benchworks has evolved into a fully integrated marketing services organization with several consecutive years of double digit growth.
While Benchworks has moved to larger offices and warehouses nearby, Worth's Folly still hosts a variety of creative meetings. The Farm provides the perfect atmosphere for company retreats and strategy sessions and is visited often by our clients who need an offsite meeting space to work out those tough business challenges...or just to relax and have fun. The yellow labs and Jack Russell that spend their days there welcome the company.
